It may be:
1. USB UMS problem. Try dvd or pxe boot.
2. UEFI driver problem, like this happens with older nvidia driver, but
when its raw install then try 10.3 or 11 and see if it was fixed then it
would be a fixed bug :-)

UEFI seems to be making its first steps on PC platform, its still raw, do
not expect fireworks :-)
