TX rates are very bogus!  any comments?

for example, an FTP operation just reported:

15056 bytes transferred in 0.02 seconds (848.67 Kbytes/s)

firstly - ain't nothing happening in 0.02 seconds!
second  - 848K/second ?  i DON'T think so !!!

makes me wonder about other BSD utility reporting ...
