Did you compile Openoffice with "WITHOUT_JAVA"?
Then, take a look here, this is not your own problem:
<http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=94449>;

Until now it seems not to be fixed. My Way: I Installed the new
Java-Binaries (oficial Java from SUN for FreeBSD!) und compiled
Openoffice with java. The Java-Port is java/diablo-jdk15
Please reed /usr/ports/java/diablo-jdk15/pkg-descr
