Jim, I bought this card as you did and found many people who had a 
great deal of trouble getting it working, including I might add, me.

I know it shows as being supported in XFree86 >4 but I think someone
goofed. If you have the patience, I expect it will be working eventually.
I spoke to one guy who is working on it.

I ended up returning it and getting something else.
