I am doing a mt -f /dev/rst0 erase and get the following errors: sto(aha0:4:0) timed out sto(aha0:4:0) ABORTED COMMAND asc:4e,0 Overlapped commands attempted mt: /dev/rst0: erase: Input/Output error The right led on the front of the HP SureStore 5000 continues to blink as if the tape is actually erasing. At the time of me sending this message it had been blinking for about 15 minutes. Any clues ? My goal is to perform a tape rotation in my backup scheme. I manually backed a file system up earlier in the evening and wanted to erase the tape and start fresh. I backed up with the dump command. Do I need to issue the erase command or is there a way to have dump overwrite what is on the tape ? Thanks Tim- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Timothy P.
