Followup: Desktop-installer completed successfully, installing 503 packages with only 2 bumps in the road: 1) graphics/dri triggers a linker crash, which I worked around by using ld from devel/binutils 2) x11-toolkits/gtk30 runs into a compile error, which I solved by adding USE_GCC=yes It appears that no new powerpc-specific hacks are necessary for desktop-installer at this time, which is a nice change from the last time I tested it on an iBook a couple years ago. If I can find a way to get Xorg working with this ATI chipset, it will be a perfectly usable FreeBSD laptop. Bacon jwbacon@tds.net If a problem can be solved, there's no need to worry. If it cannot be solved, then worrying will do no good. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
