You should just be able to use ifconfig to set the card to full duplex.
If you need to change the settings on the card you have to boot into dos
and use the 3COM utility (it is available on their website.)  Someone has
actually written a linux utility to configure the card.  Search google for
3c509 linux config or something similiar.  Or download and make a freedos
bootdisk.  It supposedly can run most dos utilities.  See
