I have two APCs - similar to the one you consider: a BackUPS ES-500 and an RS-500 (both USB) They both work without problems with apcupsd both on FreeBSD and Linux. The ES 750VA you consider is mostly equivalent to ES-500, simply more VA. apcupsd is also very easy to configure.
