Hi,
I solved this in another way!  I downloaded a dos based shareware
partition
editor,
removed wd0s6, shrunk the extended partition and thus made room to
create
a new
primary partition in place of wd0s6.  Once that was done I was up and
away
and
/stand/sysinstall worked fine
