This probably doesn't have anything to do with npx0.  You could try
booting with the -v option and see what happens.

This message is the last that appears from the boot, so probably the
boot has finished and the system is trying to continue with system
startup.  You could try booting with the -s option as well (single
user).  This should drop you into single user mode immediately after
the npx0 message.
