Subject: Unified Driver Names?

Hi,
I'm curious why FreeBSD doesn't have a unified name for, say, all ethernet cards, like it
has for all SCSI devices (now anyway) or sound drivers.

It seems to cause a lot of confusion that they don't all map to a common name (like eth0
etc)..

Just curious, please don't make me get the asbestos suit :)
