 it seems that the mplayer leaves an unusable state to the X-Video
 extension:
 
 I can correct it manually by x11/xvattr:
 
 #> xvattr -a XV_AUTOPAINT_COLORKEY -v 1
 Found Xv 2.2
 XV_AUTOPAINT_COLORKEY set to 1
 
 
 
 After that the vlc player woks fine. 
 
 This should be done automatically by mplayer (not by user).
