OK, I give up.  However, I find it somewhat frustrating to have to
accept the result of a discussion I haven't participated in.  (But of
course, this is my own fault -- perhaps I should subscribe to the
FreeBSD mailing lists...)

Again an issue of personal policy...

I always open at least one `xterm' with messages on for accepting
messages and talk requests, and I use scripts for automatically
disallowing messages in terminals running mail and news readers...

But I don't want to restart your lengthy discussion again. :)
