Hi John!  We've spoken about the Volano benchmark in the past (I'm the
guy that created it), and I've had very good luck with TYA personally,
and have been using it for ~9 months.  I'm running it on my box, and I
see a 25% speedup, which is still not a monsterous speedup, but it's
better than nothing.

However, others have noted that OpenJIT also works well, although I
don't have any personal experience using it.

For now, I'd got with the Linux JDK, since I doubt you'll see a binary
release of the native port in the near future.
