I'd guess that's just part of some message like "If you are an
unauthorized user, DISCONNECT now" or some such. Probably nothing to worry
about.

You *have* put an entry like

!ppp
*.*                                             /var/log/ppp

in /etc/newsyslog.conf, haven't you? Just have to check these things. :-)
