We just do things differently :-) The visual userconfig is definitely a "nice" way to accomplish what you desire (arguably EASIER than editing configuration files), but the kernel config is the more "elegant" way to make settings stick, because the changes are coded directly into the new kernel, and you also have the opportunity to remove those device drivers which you do= =20 not need, thereby making a much smaller kernel. GENERIC on my 3.4 server is about 2500KB, whereas my customized kernel is about 1400KB. =20 > All of the modules are "built" in the kernel ?=20 No, we also have loadable kernel modules.
