I installed X-windows (Gnome + Afterstep) on my laptop. It connects to
another machine with a paralle cable. If I unplug the parallel cable,
starting X is VERY slow and I got messages like "lp0: too many errors".
Obviously, X is trying to communicate with the outside world until
timeouts. How to prent it from doing this so X can starts as quickly as
when the parallel cable is plugged in. Thanks!
