does the 3com 3C590 work in fast ethernet mode? do i have to do
anything to make freebsd recognize 100Mbps mode? right now it's in a
10Mbps port on a catalyst switch. i just unplugged the wire and put
it in one of the 100Mbps ports but the link lights didn't come on.

i'm using 2.2-970816-RELENG. the vx man page is a little vague about
whether or not 100Mbps mode is supported.
