Umm...

	I have yet to find an external modem that wasn't a "hardware" modem as
opposed to a "software" modem...  As long as the data travels through a UART
chip, you're going to be fine.

	At any rate, a 3Com/USR Courier is going to be the best thing on the
market, bar none.
