A quick check of http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/install-hw.html (the
first place to check for supported hardware) did not show support for USB
modems.

But the HARDWARE.TXT file in 4.2RC1 shows:
4.3. USB
---- ---
Modems:
   3Com 5605 Modem

So who knows how well it works, but it is there. It is obviously pretty
new.
