yes, md5 is part of the base system. Just leave the "sum" part out
of it. There is also "openssl md5 $FILE" available.

You have missed:
dgst(1), md5(1), md4(1), md2(1), sha1(1), sha(1), mdc2(1), \
ripemd160(1) - message digests
