OK, I can do that. If it helps to get gcc 2.7.3 in, I will.
However, I was doing a make world today with pgcc (2.7.2p) and found
that the assembler has a problem with the .weak directive as produced
by this version. As said before, the binutils shall have to be
upgraded too. But I totally lack the background in this area and in
FreeBSD history do do that, alas. I can assist someone who knows more
about it however.
