BSD folks, I'm sorry I sent e-mail at all for such a stupid case. The problem was solved and had nothing to do with FreeBSD. I guess you could say the problem was to many cooks in the kitchen. My hostname was registered DNS but was never added to the proper hosts file on the server which authenticated for NFS permissions. thanks, -F.
