You may need a "pkg_delete -f" in there.

You then need to get the lastest port for gmake (assuming you haven't
already done this) before doing the following:

> 	cd usr/ports/devel/gmake
> 	make install clean

> to be sure that I clean any previous files?

Just wipe the gmake sub-directory. If you're CVSsup'ing the ports, you
should already be up to date.
