hello, i seem to have some trouble with file and print sharing.
i have three pc-s connected to a freebsd5.3 server. i use samba to share files on the server, and that works fine. the problem is, that every pc is on it's own subnet - different lan cards - and they cannot access each other correctly. i have bridged the interfaces the pc-s are connected to on the server, but: the win98 machines see the other win-machines on the network, but cannot access them; the winxp machine can only see the samba server. stranger yet, the win machines can access each others shares by ip-s, e.g. \\192.168.45.2\c etc.
it seems that something about windows file sharing won't pass through the freebsd server - ant that cannot be a firewall problem, because it isn't better with the firewall turned off.
i have run the netsetup.exe on windows xp cd on every win machine, which usually has fixed any problems regarding win98/xp lan, but no good.
so it seems to me that something is missing on my bsd server, and i have no idea what.
thanks for any help...
