Drew Gallatin merged a number of changes right after 4.2 was released. I'm not sure if they work on the x86, but I'm running Compaq's Linux-JVM on the Alpha they donated to the FreeBSD/JDK project, which should help us 'bootstrap' a native build for FreeBSD.
