It's a generic S3 Virge DX, 4 Mb card. SuperGraphics? Not sure.Do I need to
provide more info, or will this do?

OK. I went ahead and tried it--although I was hoping to get my hand held.
I went through it step by step. At the end, I copied the XF86Config file
to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11 and ran "startx."(What it says to do in xfree86.org's
"Quick-Start Guide to XFree86 Setup")
I got this output:

_X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno = 61

waiting for X server to begin accepting connections .
_X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno = 61
..
_X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno = 61
.._XSERVTransSocketCreateListener: failed to bind listener
_XSERVTransSocketINETCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to create listener for tcp

Fatal server error:
Failed to establish all listening sockets

When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send
the full server output, not just the last messages

_X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno = 61
giving up.
xinit: Connection refused (errno 61): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.

*********
Possible culprit:

After I told the config utility which video card I have, it said "Do NOT
probe clocks or
use any clocks line." Later, when prompted for RAMDAC and clockchip and
running
"X -probeonly," I skipped through selecting none. Now what?

Thanks,
John Derk <johnderk@infoserve.net>
