Yes, this worked.

ccdconfig -cv ccd0 512 none /dev/da0s1e /dev/da1s1e
newfs /dev/ccd0c
mount /dev/ccd0c /mnt

The man pages for vinum indicate that it's in beta. I'd prefer
the machine to be as stable as humanly possible.
