according to freebsd-update
one should not compile any part of the system, which if true poses a
problem, since we had to recompile the kernel to get SMP working, 5.1
must have not had that in the generic kernel. I'm not sure, but i
think the stock kernel that goes with the 5.2 has it.

I just used pkg_add -r to get freebsd-update and got v1.4

I was reading that v1.5 handles recompiled parts better. Where should
I be looking for v1.5? I keep finding v1.4

does anyone have any notes on using freebsd-update with a system that
has been compiled locally?

Thanks
