What does `ls -l /dev/da*` return when the disk is attached to the computer?
Assuming that the drive has a partition table you should see `/dev/da0` and
`/dev/da0s1`. I've haven't seen an NTFS filesystem on a raw disk yet, but I
don't know if it is impossible.

Also make sure that the mount point exists.
