This part of the performance disclaimer has been untrue for a while now.
It is once again enabled by default.

As stated, it's untrue. You can check the status of write caching by
using the sysctl(8) facility. You're looking for hw.ata.wc.

It'd probably be a good idea for someone to nuke that paragraph...
