Sure is is, look at the example in /usr/share/examples/libvgl how to
init etc, then you use the structure VGLDisplay which is of type:

typedef struct {
  byte  Type;   	/* type of display buffer ie 8bit planemode etc */
  int   Xsize, Ysize;   /* size of screen memory */
  byte  *Bitmap;	/* pointer to start of screen memory */
} VGLBitmap;    

You want the Bitmap pointer...
