Hello,
I have a Compaq EVO D510 on which I am unable to get sound to work.
This is a intel845 chipset (integrated audio).

I have rebuilt the kernel with the following options ...

device pcm
options PNPBIOS # not sure if i need this ( i needed it on a i815 m/c though)

dmesg turns up the following ..
$> dmesg | grep pcm
pcm0: <Intel 82801BA (ICH2)> port 0x2400-0x243f,0x2000-0x20ff irq 11 at device
31.5 on pci0
pcm0: measured ac97 link rate at 55942 Hz
pcm0: <Intel 82801BA (ICH2)> port 0x2400-0x243f,0x2000-0x20ff irq 11 at device
31.5 on pci0
pcm0: measured ac97 link rate at 55930 Hz

I MAKDEV'ed snd0 & snd1, I have a bunch of /dev/dspx.x.
But if I do ..
$ echo '1' > /dev/dsp
/dev/dsp: Device not configured.

I am stumped. Please help out.

regards
srp
