Yes. It comes with a simple boot manager (i don't know the name offhand) or
you can install your own (booteasy, LILO, System Commander)

Yes, there is a Linux emulator that works quite well. A quick search of the
questions mailing list
(http://www.freebsd.org/search/search.html#mailinglists) reveals that some
people have gotten Blender working under FreeBSD. Another search of the
mailing list reveals that Wine is problematic, but it can run. Wabi, by
Caldera, has been suggested instead of it.

Not by itself. Wine or Wabi or Bochs will/might. (i've never tried it
myself. that's what dual-booting is for)

The ports collection is FreeBSD's way of having a library of software
that's easy to install without hassle. You just go into the ports
directory, find the program you want, tell it 'make install', and the
program's installed and ready to use.

I think 2.2.6 has some security holes (denial of service?) in it. 2.2.8 is
the latest version and has cool new stuff like a built-in bandwidth limiter.

>-what are your X servers do you support KDE?
XFree86 and XIG work under FreeBSD (maybe more. those are the only 2 I've
tried). KDE does work. Installing it _may_ take some time.

>- if I program under freeBSD will it be portable? how so?

I suppose that would depend on how you program... But FreeBSD does use gcc,
which is available for nearly every other platform in existence. Supported
languages are C and C++. There are also Pascal-to-C and Fortran-to-C
converters built in or available.
