PAO was a godsend for me, and I've always appreciated what it's done
for FreeBSD.  I think most of us on the list feel the same way.  I
don't use it any longer, but that's only because I needed things that
weren't supported by it, and could be found in the -current tree.

I don't know that everyone understands this.  I think people want to
help, because I think most everyone on this list has gotten some great
help from time to time.  People generally do things their way, unless
shown a better way, and I think it's normal to get a list of things
from people doing it "their way".  I've come to expect it, and kinda
think others should as well.
