This works just fine for me on two machines.

GNU bash, version 4.2.45(1)-release (amd64-portbld-freebsd9.2)
GNU bash, version 4.3.0(1)-release (amd64-portbld-freebsd10.0)

Maybe you have something broken in /usr/local/etc/bash_completion.d.
