Subject: Problems with ELM 2.4ME+ PL68 (25)

I just installed ELM 2.4ME+ PL68 (25) from the ports collection on
FreeBSD 3.3-RELEASE.

There are three problems.

 1) Elm probably should not be installed setgid under this operating
system. Doing so causes elm to ignore the user's "$HOME/.termcap"
file if it exists. Setting /var/mail to chmod 1777 allows elm to
    run as the user.

 2) The "frm" program fails if /var/mail is not chmod 1777 because it
tries to create a lockfile there.

 3) Using the "o" command to set options, after changing an option
and trying to save the new elmrc file using the ">" command, elm
aborts with a segmentation error, truncating the elmrc file and
    leaving /tmp/mbox.username.

These problems may have been fixed in later updates of elm. The latest
at http://www.ozone.fmi.fi/KEH/ is now Elm 2.4ME+ PL72 (25), which is
four revisions newer than the current port.

I hope this information has been helpful. It was meant to be
constructive feedback, not criticism.

Keith
