    I've looked into this and couldn't find any reference to potential
    problems MFCing it, and the code looks correct.  If anyone can recall
    the conversation or direct me to mailing list thread I would
    appreciate it.  The patch can't make things any worse no matter what
    so I think it's safe to leave it in in anycase.
