Turned out the key database was all munged up. I got around the problem by blowing away the CERTS and reinstalling them. The documentation is somewhat sparse, but accurrate if I recall correctly. I got the machines working properly by following the instructions exactly and paying particular attention to the order of it all. Also, have a look at the SKIP mailling list archive.
