Mike,
I don't think you followed all the steps as instructed... read (yes,
again) http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/ports-using.html and look
again. The dir you need to be in is /usr/ports/editors/emacs when you
do your "make install". Reading and retaining what you read are
entirely different.
