The HipZip works just fine with the USB umass driver here, and has under
RELENG-4, -CURRENT for me for some time.  The drive shows up as a 40mb
device, and I've used it for just the purpose you describe.

As for the audio player itself, the headphone jack has broken on mine
(twice!) requiring factory replacement.  Not sure if it's a design issue or
if it's been addressed by Iomega.
