I've mentioned the first, and asked about the second. I don't recall having
complained.

Replacing the hardware is not an option.

I've been listening to the usual hotheaded young males beating their chests and
chanting the mantras of their favorite religion (FreeBSD in this case) for
several days. Precious few of the people on this list seem objective enough and
unemotional enough to answer my questions impartially and calmly, and equally
few seem to really know what they are talking about. It's a typical mailing
list, in other words, but it doesn't seem to be a very useful resources for
getting questions answered.

You don't approve of comparisons between FreeBSD and other operating systems?
How can I discuss a new operating system or learn anything about it if I am
forbidden to mention other operating systems with which I am familiar?

Don't they have any answers themselves? If all I want is _pointers_ to _other_
resources, I can just use Google. There must be some gurus somewhere here on
this list.

I liked FreeBSD as soon as I installed it. I just don't consider it deity
incarnate.
