Mainly for drivers (proprietary closed ones) and the millions of
resources (money and man-power) that are already working on it. You
could also hopefully run proprietary Linux apps (Oracle, DB2, Novell,
etc.) naively or at least more naively then we have now. Also to beat
back GNU/SysV style UNIX and put BSD style UNIX back on top for world
domination. And it would be a fun project. :-)
