I was wondering if FreeBSD uses a frame buffer by default rather than text mode. If so, I would really like to change it to text mode for speed reasons. The reason that I suspect it uses a frame buffer is the mouse cursor... To the best of my knowledge, the only way to make a mouse cursor with single pixel movement abilities in text mode would be to create new font characters with both the text and the pixels of mouse cursor on the fly and update the character blocks that the mouse cursor touches every time the mouse is moved. That would be an amazing PITA to code. This is just a curiousity, so if you are at all limited for time, please use that time for more important questions. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
