I think the only thing you are not allowed to change is the

  DUMP: DUMP: 446124 tape blocks on 1 volumes(s)

line to avoid the silly second "DUMP:".  I once did, and people
started screaming...  i simply didn't know that Amanda does such a
stupid job in parsing the output.  (Presumably a hard-coded scanf()
only.)
