Ok, I got it to work.
Perhaps the devfs.rules man page should mention thar you need to set
devfs_system_ruleset in /etc/rc.conf to the name of the ruleset you want
to use?

For that matter, the rc.conf man page doesnt mention *any* devfs_
variables at all.
