Subject:   simple quota question: is quotacheck safe ?

Are there any caveats about quotas on a large files system ?  I have a
12gig partition with my user data on it.  Is it safe to run quotacheck
after the machine has booted up and system is live, or must I run it when
the machine is booting up ?
