You know, I never thought of that (duh) I went for the tarball. I went
and installed vmware2 from /usr/ports/ and when I went to run vmware I
received the following error:

ELF interperter /lib/ld-linux.so.2 not found

I'm pulling some stuff now that will hopefully satisfy this dependency.
Apparently the "linux-base" didn't have it.
