What is strange is that it seems to hang once it enters userland after/ while starting init. Just some random things that come to my mind: a) do you have ipsec enabled in rc.conf so that a policy would be inserted? b) you are not trying to mount anything from nfs? c) is anything else displayed on the screen if not on serial console? d) can you try without the puc/COM_MULTIPORT but with IPSEC?
