I think the texlive-base port/package is working with version 2012.
But the texlive-texmf needed to update. I've reported a request [1]
almost one year ago with a patch. I can't compile my exsheets-based
[2] documents when I want to use the newest exsheets package (yes, I
want to use because this package is in active developing and has
many-many new features). With texlive-texmf 2013 works well.
I'm using "my" updated texlive-texmf (the patch is very "difficult":
PORTVERSION, MASTER_SITES and sha256/size info changed) and works well
almost one year (with texlive-base 2012 :) ).
And as I remember the beamer is changed, can't build newest
beamer-based documents with "old" texlive-texmf.

So I think the texlive-texmf should update. Texlive-base 2012 works for me.

Cheers,
  Zsolt
